Welcome
ANZMAG is a society formed to promote the science of magnetic resonance in the region of Australia and New Zealand. Its principal activities are to organize a national conference, nine of which have been held at various venues since 1973, and to support lecture tours by distinguished overseas visitors.
The Society was formed following the 8th National NMR Conference in 1992, and provided a vehicle for the successful bid to hold the 12th International Society of Magnetic Resonance Conference (ISMAR 95) in Sydney in July, 1995. This highly successful joint meeting was held during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the discovery of nuclear magnetic resonance.
NEWS
New NMR Book from down under! - Steve Pascal from Massey University has recently published an NMR textbook aimed at students and others new to the field. The book is called NMR Primer: An HSQC-based Approach. It is available online and features a number of vector-based animations to guide readers through complex pulse sequences.
ANZMAG Medals - Applications are now invited for the ANZMAG Medal and for the ANZMAG Young Investigator Medal. Both medals are awarded for outstanding contributions to magnetic resonance in Australia and New Zealand. The closing date for applications is Monday 7 July, and details of the conditions and application process can be found here.
NMR Workshop - The advanced course in Multidimensional NMR in Solution 2008 will be held at UQ in Brisbane on December 1-5 2008, with Profs Art Palmer (New York), Steffen Glaser (Munich) and Wolfgang Bermel (Bruker) as overseas lecturers. The course is again organized by Gottfried Otting, using material from the corresponding EMBO workshop in Italy. Details can be found here.
ANZMAG 2008 - the conference - will next be held in Queensland on December 6-11 2008, and will be organized by a committee led by Prof. Ian Brereton from the University of Queensland. Stay tuned for further details!
ICMRBS (The International Conference for Magnetic Resonance in Biological Systems) will be held in Australia in 2010! The Australian contingent of Ray Norton, Joel Mackay and Gottfried Otting were successful in convincing the ICMRBS Council that Australia wasn't *too* far away! ICMRBS 2008 is scheduled to be held in San Diego [www].
